ABOUT OPEN STUDIO MEMBERSHIP

Open Studio Membership is designed for experienced potters who want the flexibility to work independently and at their own pace. Members enjoy unlimited access during available Open Studio hours, along with shared tools, glazes, kiln firings, and dedicated shelf space.

Membership also means being part of Claybird Studio’s creative community. Members are expected to respect the shared space, clean thoroughly after each visit, and contribute to a welcoming, collaborative environment.

MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

Completed at least one weekly class session at Claybird Studio and consistently demonstrates responsible cleanup habits and respect for the shared space.
Have experienced beginner/intermediate skills or higher and be able to work safely and independently.
Submit a Membership Application and receive approval before registering.
Complete a brief studio protocol review when joining, with follow-ups every 6–12 months as needed.

LOYALTY PERKS

After 6 consecutive months, members earn one free bag of studio clay OR $40 off their next membership renewal. Membership must remain continuous with no lapse; reward is earned after the sixth paid month.

After 12 consecutive months, members earn one free month upon renewal. Membership must remain continuous with no lapse.

Active members receive 5% off weekly classes that begin during their active membership period or who go from membership directly into a class.

STORAGE CUBBY

Keep your tools, apron, brushes, personal glazes, clay, and other supplies organized in a dedicated storage cubby. Cubby storage is for personal supplies, bagged clay, reclaim, and bisqueware only - no wet work or greenware. Personal items may not be stored on the studio floor or under tables.

CLAY RECLAIM INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Students and members are welcome to participate in our studio clay recycling program. For every 25-lbs of studio reclaim contributed, participants may request a coupon code for 10% off one bag of new or recycled clay.

PAYMENTS, COMMITMENTS & CANCELLATIONS

Memberships and add-ons begin on the 1st, are paid in advance, and auto-renew based on the selected billing period. No mid-month starts.
Add-ons may be the same or shorter term than the primary membership and cannot extend beyond it. Shelves and cubbies are subject to availability and require approval.
Members must maintain a valid payment method. Access is suspended for unpaid balances until payment is current.
All payments are non-refundable, non-transferable, and may not be shared.

CANCELING YOUR MEMBERSHIP

Memberships and add-ons may be canceled separately with at least 5 business days’ notice before the next renewal. 2-, 4-, and 6-month plans require a full-term commitment. Approved early cancellations are recalculated at the monthly rate, with any remaining balance refunded minus a $25 cancellation fee. Studio access continues through the last paid day. Shelves and cubbies must be emptied and all personal items and unfinished work removed by that date unless otherwise approved.

MEMBER SHELF HEIGHT LIMIT

Keep all work and materials within member shelf space dimension. Keep work organized and shelves clean, removing finished work regularly and wet-dusting shelf periodically. For occasional oversized projects, check with the studio owner, as alternate storage may be available when space allows.

MEMBER EXPECTATIONS

Open Studio Membership is for independent potters and does not include instruction or exclusive use of equipment. Members must clean thoroughly, sign in and out, follow studio policies, and review emails for schedule updates, closures and other important communications. Open Studio hours may change for classes, events, maintenance, or holidays. Membership is for personal, non-commercial use. High-volume production may incur additional firing fees. Membership may be suspended or revoked for repeated policy, cleanup, or safety violations.
