POTTERY PAINTING

Take Home & In-Studio

HOW POTTERY PAINTING WORKS!

Unpainted Pottery (bisqueware) & glazes for purchase

Choose from our selection of individually priced, unpainted pottery pieces (bisqueware), available for take-home painting kits or scheduled an in-studio pottery-painting event.

Take-Home Pottery Painting Kits

  • Purchase your pottery pieces and glaze colors online, and we'll prepare your order for studio pickup.

  • Optional Materials Borrowing fee (includes paintbrushes & paint trays) to borrow supplies for at-home pottery painting (fee refundable once materials are returned).

  • Paint at home or anywhere you like, at your convenience!

  • Return your painted pieces to the studio for kiln firing. Our specialty glazes become food-safe, water-resistant, and durable after proper firing.

  • Prefer to use your own acrylic or air-dry paints? You can! Just keep in mind that these finishes are generally decorative only, not food-safe, and less durable than kiln-fired glazes. No return or firing is needed!

  • Used our paints/glazes? Drop your painted pieces at the studio for kiln firing, typically ready for pickup within 2-3 weeks after drop-off.

In-Studio Pottery Painting

  • Available by advance reservation only. No walk-in pottery painting available.

  • Group events require a sitting fee minimum of 8 guests plus a $50 booking fee.

  • To schedule, email us or complete our Event Inquiry Form on our Group Events webpage.

  • Pottery pieces are picked out at the time of your event, or can be pre-purchased before your event.

  • Glazes/paints and all supplies are included in your sitting/booking fees.

  • Finished pieces remain at the studio for kiln firing and are typically ready for pickup within 2-3 weeks after your event.

Important Glazing & Firing Information

All pottery is sold unpainted and ready to decorate.
Our specialty pottery glazes are non-toxic but must be kiln-fired to achieve their intended finish. They are not air-dry paints.
Only pottery purchased from Claybird Studio and painted with glazes purchased from us is eligible for returning to us for kiln firing.
Please contact us with any questions before purchasing!
