Open Studio Membership
Pilot Program: July-August 2026
Official Launch goal: September 2026
Mission
Open Studio Membership is designed for experienced potters who value flexibility, creative freedom, and the experience of being part of a welcoming clay community. Claybird Studio is more than just a place to make pottery - it's a shared creative community. Membership offers the freedom to create, the opportunity to connect with fellow potters, and the responsibility of helping care for the studio we all enjoy. Members are expected to treat the space with respect, clean thoroughly after each visit, and help foster the welcoming, collaborative environment that makes Claybird Studio a special place to create.

Clay Reclaim Incentive Program
Pilot Program (to be reviewed after 6 months)
Students and members are welcome to participate in our studio clay recycling program. For every 25-lbs of studio reclaim contributed, participants may request a coupon code for 20% off one bag of new or recycled clay.
Program Guidelines
• Applies to studio-provided clay only. This policy may be revised in the future.
• Reclaim must be weighed by the member, then verified and recorded by studio staff.
• A minimum of 25-lbs must be contributed at one time. Smaller incremental drop-offs do not qualify.
• Additional reclaim may be contributed in future 25-lb increments to earn additional clay discounts.
• Discount codes are valid for 20% off one bag of new or recycled clay and may not be redeemed for cash, account credit, or refunds.
Thank you for helping us reduce waste, keep usable clay in circulation, and support a more sustainable studio community.
Payments, Commitment & Cancellation
Memberships and add-ons begin on the 1st of the month and run through the last day of the month. Mid-month starts are not available.
Membership and add-on fees are due on the 1st of each month and automatically renew unless canceled before the next renewal date.
Members are responsible for maintaining a valid payment method and ensuring payments are processed successfully. Studio access will be suspended if payment cannot be processed and will resume once the membership has been brought current.
All membership and add-on payments are non-refundable, non-transferable, and may not be shared.
Canceling Your Membership
Month-to-month memberships or add-ons may be canceled at any time before the next renewal date, either through your membership confirmation email or by emailing the studio. Cancellation requests must be received 3 business days before the next renewal date to avoid being charged for the following month.
Members enrolled in the 2- or 4-month membership or any add-ons are committing to the full term. Requests to end a membership or add-on plan early are subject to studio approval. If approved, the membership will be adjusted to the month-to-month rate for the months used, and any remaining balance will be refunded accordingly, minus a $25 early cancellation fee.
Members may continue using the studio through the last day of their paid membership period.
All shelves and cubbies must be emptied and cleaned by the final day of membership.
Unfinished pottery and personal items must be removed from the studio unless other arrangements have been approved by the studio owner.
Member Shelf Height Limit
Members are expected to keep all work and materials within the dimensions of their shelf space. However, we do not wish to limit creativity. If a project exceeds standard shelf height requirements, please speak with the studio owner. When space allows, alternate storage arrangements may be available for unusually tall pieces or special projects. Members are also expected to keep their shelves reasonably organized and remove finished work on a regular basis to help ensure adequate storage space for ongoing projects.
Membership Eligibility
• Have completed at least 2 classes at Claybird Studio and consistently demonstrate responsible cleanup habits.
• Demonstrate intermediate-level pottery skills or higher and ability to work safely and independently.
• Submit a Membership Application and receive approval from the studio owner.
• A brief studio protocol review is required at the start of each new membership and every 6 months thereafter
Important Notes
Open Studio Memberships do not include instruction and are intended for potters who have a foundation in ceramics and can work safely and independently. Membership provides access to a shared studio environment and does not include exclusive use of the studio or equipment. Members are expected to thoroughly clean their work areas, tools, and any shared studio spaces used during each visit, and sign in and out during each visit. Members are responsible for reviewing studio emails regarding schedule updates, temporary closures, and important studio announcements. Open Studio hours may occasionally be modified due to classes, workshops, maintenance, holidays, or other studio programming. Memberships are intended for personal, non-commercial use. Members producing unusually large quantities of work may be subject to additional firing fees or asked to discuss production needs with the studio owner. Membership privileges may be suspended or revoked for repeated failure to follow studio policies, cleanup expectations, or safety protocols.
